XDJ-AZ Firmware 1.30 Adds TIDAL StreamingDirectPlay and Cloud Login Improvements

AlphaTheta expands the XDJ-AZ’s standalone streaming workflow
AlphaTheta has released XDJ-AZ firmware version 1.30, and the update is notable for DJs who use all-in-one systems without a laptop. The biggest addition is support for StreamingDirectPlay for TIDAL, giving XDJ-AZ users another way to access streaming music directly from the hardware.
The update also adds QR code login on the source selection screen for cloud media services, 4-deck display in enlarged waveform view, firmware updates via the internet, simultaneous login with multiple rekordbox CloudDirectPlay and streaming service accounts, and minor bug fixes.
TIDAL StreamingDirectPlay is the headline
StreamingDirectPlay support matters because standalone DJ systems are increasingly expected to behave like connected performance platforms rather than USB-only playback devices. For open-format DJs, mobile DJs, and bar/lounge selectors, the ability to access a streaming catalog from the unit itself can be a major convenience when handling requests or filling gaps in a set.
Of course, streaming should still be treated carefully in professional environments. Club Wi-Fi can be unreliable, and DJs should keep essential music prepared locally. But for flexible gigs, practice, discovery, and backup scenarios, direct streaming on the XDJ-AZ is a meaningful expansion.
QR login and multiple accounts address real booth friction
The QR code login change may sound small, but it addresses one of the least enjoyable parts of connected DJing: entering credentials on hardware. Faster sign-in is especially useful for shared setups, teaching environments, back-to-back sets, and venues where multiple DJs may use different cloud or streaming accounts on the same unit.
Multiple simultaneous rekordbox CloudDirectPlay and streaming service logins also point toward a more collaborative future for standalone systems. Instead of treating the hardware as one DJ’s closed environment, the XDJ-AZ is becoming better suited to multi-user sessions.
4-deck waveform display makes the AZ feel more “pro booth”
The new 4-deck display in enlarged waveform view should help DJs who use the XDJ-AZ’s expanded mixing capabilities. All-in-one units are often judged by how close they feel to a club setup, and waveform visibility is part of that comfort. Better visual feedback across four decks can make layered mixing, acapella work, loops, and extended blends easier to manage.
The takeaway
Firmware 1.30 is not a cosmetic update. It pushes the XDJ-AZ further toward the connected, cloud-aware, multi-source DJ booth that AlphaTheta has been building across rekordbox and its standalone hardware. If you own or regularly play on an XDJ-AZ, this is an update worth reviewing before your next show—after backing up your media and checking your usual professional update precautions.
