Serato Hex FX 1.2.0 Adds AAX and macOS Tahoe Support for DJ-Producers

Serato’s Multi-FX Plugin Moves Deeper Into the Studio
Serato’s latest DJ software news is not only about decks and controllers. The company has also updated its production ecosystem with Serato Hex FX 1.2.0, a new version of its all-in-one multi-effects plugin. The headline additions are AAX Native support for Pro Tools and official macOS 26 Tahoe support.
For DJs who produce edits, remixes, bootlegs, transitions, intros, or sample-based tracks, this matters. Hex FX sits in the same broader Serato creative universe as Serato Sample and Serato Studio, but it is a DAW plugin rather than DJ performance software. Version 1.2.0 makes it more useful in professional production environments, especially where Pro Tools is still part of the workflow.
What Hex FX Does
Hex FX is built around the idea of chainable performance effects. Serato lists 50 individual FX and more than 200 presets, covering categories such as delay, distortion, filters, modulation, reverb, saturation, shapers, tremolo, time stretching, compression, bit crushing, and more.
The plugin is designed for fast sound design: load a preset, twist the central Hex Dial, and automate a complex chain without manually building every processor from scratch. For DJs, that is useful because many club edits are less about traditional mix engineering and more about movement, tension, impact, and quick arrangement ideas.
AAX Support Is the Big Workflow Change
The most important addition in Hex FX 1.2.0 is AAX Native support. Until now, the plugin was positioned mainly around common producer formats such as VST and AU. AAX support brings Hex FX into Pro Tools sessions, which opens the door for engineers, post-production users, mix editors, and producers who collaborate in Avid’s ecosystem.
For DJ-producers, this means a transition edit started in Ableton Live, Logic, FL Studio, or Studio One can now be more easily matched in a Pro Tools mix room if Hex FX is part of the sound. It also makes the plugin more credible as a professional studio tool rather than a closed Serato-side effect box.
macOS Tahoe Support Reduces Upgrade Anxiety
Serato also says Hex FX 1.2.0 is fully supported on macOS 26 Tahoe. OS compatibility is rarely exciting, but it is crucial for DJs and producers who rely on a single laptop for both studio work and live preparation. Plugin incompatibility can break old sessions, interrupt remix work, or force users to delay system updates for months.
If your Mac is already on Tahoe, or you are planning a summer maintenance window for your studio machine, Hex FX 1.2.0 is the version to install and test.
New Artist Presets and Bug Fixes
The update also adds artist presets from Statik Selektah, Bryan Yepes, and Benjamin Thomas. That continues one of Hex FX’s stronger ideas: using curated macro chains as a fast creative starting point rather than making users build every effect rack manually.
Serato has also fixed several workflow issues, including a plugin window size problem, host parameter update behavior when typing values, and a cursor visibility issue after editing curves in the Preset Editor. These are small fixes, but they matter in long sessions where repetitive UI friction can slow down the creative process.
Why DJs Should Pay Attention
There is a growing overlap between DJ software and production software. DJs are not only playing finished tracks; they are preparing custom versions, extending intros, isolating hooks, building transition tools, creating social clips, and making quick remixes. A plugin like Hex FX is not a replacement for a full mix chain, but it is a fast way to give those DJ-focused assets energy and identity.
Used carefully, Hex FX can help create builds, tape-stop moments, filtered breakdowns, lo-fi textures, vocal throws, and beat-repeat transitions that feel more personal than a generic DJ app effect. With AAX support, it now fits into more professional session environments too.
Our Take
Hex FX 1.2.0 is a practical update rather than a flashy reinvention. But for Serato users who also make music, it is a sign that the company is treating its production tools as a connected ecosystem. DJs who already use Serato Sample or Studio should take a closer look, especially if they collaborate with producers or engineers working in Pro Tools.
