rekordbox for Android Adds Beatport Streaming: Mobile Prep Just Got More Serious

Beatport Streaming lands on rekordbox for Android
AlphaTheta has quietly filled an important gap in the rekordbox mobile ecosystem: rekordbox for Android now supports Beatport Streaming. That means Android users can browse and stream Beatport’s DJ-focused catalog directly inside rekordbox, putting the Android app closer to feature parity with rekordbox for Mac/Windows and rekordbox for iOS.
The announcement specifically positions the update as a way to DJ with a smartphone or tablet, or to pair an Android device with compatible controllers such as the DDJ-FLX2, DDJ-FLX4, and DDJ-GRV6. The original rekordbox announcement is available here.
Why it matters for DJs
For many DJs, Android has historically felt like the second-class citizen in mobile DJ software. iPad and iPhone users often received DJ app features first, while Android users had fewer serious options for portable set preparation. Beatport Streaming support changes the equation for rekordbox users who want to test tracks, build practice playlists, or sketch out genre-specific sets without opening a laptop.
This is especially useful for electronic DJs who already use Beatport as a discovery and purchasing pipeline. You can audition tracks, test keys and energy flow, and then decide which tracks are worth buying for an offline library or club USB workflow.
The important limitations
This is still streaming, not ownership. rekordbox’s Android FAQ states that Beatport Streaming tracks cannot be played offline in rekordbox for Android, and the Advanced or Professional Beatport Streaming plan is required. rekordbox also lists restrictions that apply to streaming tracks, including that they cannot be recorded inside the app and cannot be loaded to connected devices via PRO DJ LINK.
That means this update is best understood as a practice, discovery, and portable preparation upgrade, not a replacement for a purchased, backed-up gig library.
DJ.Software take
rekordbox for Android gaining Beatport Streaming is another sign that DJ software is becoming less tied to the laptop. The strongest workflow is now hybrid: use streaming on mobile to discover and test ideas, use rekordbox desktop for deeper prep and export, and keep owned files ready for serious performances.
For Android DJs, this is one of the more practical rekordbox mobile upgrades of 2026—not because it replaces the booth workflow, but because it makes the hours before the booth more productive.
