Best Free DJ Software for Linux in 2026
Linux DJs face a short list. Most commercial DJ software targets Windows and macOS only, which makes the options here genuinely limited — but not absent.
Mixxx: the realistic choice
Mixxx is the only major DJ application in our database with native Linux support. It is free, open-source, and community-maintained, scoring 80/100 for controller compatibility and 65/100 for professional use.
It supports DVS timecode, works with a broad range of controllers, and costs nothing. Its main limitation is stem separation, which it does not currently offer.
What about the others?
Rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro, Traktor Pro, VirtualDJ and djay Pro do not ship native Linux builds. Running them through compatibility layers is possible but unreliable for live performance, and we do not recommend it for paid work.
Our recommendation
If Linux is a hard requirement, Mixxx is the answer, and it is a capable one. If you can run a second machine, the commercial options open up considerably.
