Serato FX (Hex FX)

Serato FX, formerly known as Hex FX, is an effects expansion pack developed by Serato in collaboration with Pitch & Time creator and audio DSP expert Nik Charov. It adds a collection of creative performance effects to Serato DJ Pro that go beyond the standard built-in effect library, giving DJs new sonic tools for creative expression during performances.

The effects in Serato FX are designed for live DJ performance — they're beat-synced, dramatic, and optimized for real-time manipulation via controller knobs and buttons. Each effect includes multiple parameters that respond to hardware controls, providing deep, expressive control over the sound. The effects are designed to be musical and performance-oriented rather than subtle production tools.

The collection includes effects categories spanning glitch, rhythmic, spatial, and modulation domains. Glitch effects chop, stutter, and reorganize audio in beat-synced patterns. Rhythmic effects add pulsing, gating, and tremolo patterns locked to the track's beat grid. Spatial effects create depth, movement, and stereo field manipulation. Modulation effects provide wobble, phaser, and frequency modulation textures.

Integration with Serato DJ Pro is seamless — once installed, the effects appear alongside the standard effect library in Serato's FX rack. They can be loaded into any FX slot, chained with other effects, and assigned to any deck. Controller mapping follows Serato's standard FX mapping, so existing hardware setups work immediately. The effects respond to Serato's beat grid timing, ensuring synchronization regardless of track tempo.

Serato FX is available as a paid expansion through the Serato website.
