MixEmergency
MixEmergency is a video mixing application for macOS designed specifically to work alongside DJ software — primarily Serato DJ Pro. Developed by Inklen, it adds professional video mixing capabilities to DJ setups without requiring DJs to switch to a different platform for video performance.
The core concept is seamless integration with existing DJ software. MixEmergency monitors the audio output and deck states from Serato DJ Pro (or other supported software) and automatically manages video playback to match. When a DJ loads a track in Serato, MixEmergency can automatically load the corresponding music video. Crossfader movements in Serato are mirrored in MixEmergency's video output, creating synchronized audio-video mixing without any additional effort from the DJ.
The video engine supports a wide range of video formats and provides real-time video effects including color correction, distortion, blur, overlay, text insertion, and more. Video transitions can be automated based on the audio crossfader position or triggered manually. The output supports multiple displays, allowing DJs to project visuals to venue screens while maintaining their own monitoring display.
MixEmergency includes a video file management system that links audio tracks to their corresponding music videos. Once the library is set up, the system handles video loading and cueing automatically. The software also supports camera inputs for live video integration, still image display for logos and event branding, and text overlays for announcements or song information.
For DJs who perform in venues with video screens — clubs, bars, event spaces, and festivals — MixEmergency provides the simplest path from audio-only DJing to full audio-video performance.
