Serato Hex FX Adds Pro Tools AAX

Hex FX Moves Deeper Into the Studio

Serato Hex FX 1.2.0 is now available with AAX Native support, adding Pro Tools compatibility alongside VST and AU formats. Serato’s official Hex FX download page also lists bug fixes and macOS 26 Tahoe support for the update.

Hex FX is not DJ software in the traditional deck-and-mixer sense. It is a multi-effects plug-in for production, with 50 chainable effects, performance-style FX, and preset chains. But for DJs who make edits, intros, bootlegs, DJ tools, and transition tracks, this kind of plug-in sits directly in the modern DJ workflow.

Why AAX Support Matters

AAX support brings Hex FX into Pro Tools sessions, which matters for producers, mix engineers, and edit-makers who work outside Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, or other AU/VST hosts. Serato’s production ecosystem already includes Serato Sample and Serato Studio; Hex FX broadens the brand’s footprint from DJ performance into sound design and finishing.

The DJ Workflow Angle

DJs increasingly need production tools for practical reasons, not just artistic ones. A working open-format DJ might create clean intros, extend short streaming-era arrangements, make acapella-friendly edits, build custom transition tools, or prep versions with filtered breakdowns and impact FX. A plug-in like Hex FX gives those users a fast way to create movement without building large effects chains from scratch.

Where It Fits

  • Serato Sample: chop and stem-process source material.
  • Serato Studio: sketch beats and DJ-friendly edits quickly.
  • Hex FX: add movement, breakdowns, transitions, and sound-design polish.
  • Serato DJ Pro: perform the finished edits, stems, and crates live.

A Sign of Serato’s Bigger Strategy

Serato is no longer only competing in the DJ booth. With SLAB, Studio, Sample, and Hex FX, the company is building a loop between DJ performance and music production. Hex FX adding AAX is a small update on paper, but it makes that loop more credible for serious studio users and professional edit-makers.
