rekordbox SoundCloud Deadline Nears
SoundCloud Crates Need Attention Before June 30
AlphaTheta has issued an important rekordbox notice for DJs who rely on SoundCloud streaming. Because SoundCloud has changed its audio file format, older versions of rekordbox will no longer be able to load SoundCloud streaming tracks after June 30, 2026.
The required action is more than a normal “click update and forget” maintenance job. AlphaTheta says SoundCloud users should update to the latest version of rekordbox, then re-analyze SoundCloud tracks in their collection and reset cue points where needed.

Who Is Affected?
According to the notice, the affected versions include rekordbox for Mac/Windows 7.2.9 and earlier, plus rekordbox for iOS/Android 4.6.1 and earlier. If your gig library includes SoundCloud Go+ playlists, this is worth checking now rather than in the booth.
The Cue Point Catch
The tricky part is cue reliability. rekordbox warns that beatgrid and cue-point information previously created for SoundCloud tracks may not line up correctly after the format change. That means this is not just a login or streaming-authentication issue; it can affect performance prep.
For DJs using SoundCloud as a discovery or request source, the safest workflow is:
- Update rekordbox before June 30.
- Filter your collection to show SoundCloud tracks only.
- Re-analyze those tracks in the latest version.
- Check Hot Cues and Memory Cues manually on any gig-critical tracks.
- Build an offline fallback playlist for the same set window.
Why This Matters
Streaming integrations are now part of mainstream DJ software, but they are also dependent on outside services. When a streaming provider changes file formats, authentication behavior, or API rules, the DJ app has to adapt. The practical lesson is simple: streaming crates should be treated like live services, not permanent USB exports.
If you use SoundCloud in rekordbox, make this a pre-gig maintenance task. A streaming track that will not load is bad; a track that loads with shifted cue points is worse because you may not catch it until the mix is already happening.
