rekordbox 7.2.14 Adds Smart Cue

rekordbox 7.2.14 is a workflow update with gig implications

AlphaTheta’s latest posted rekordbox release notes show rekordbox 7.2.14 adding two features that are easy to overlook but useful in daily prep: SMART CUE and the ability to edit Spotify playlists from inside rekordbox. The official notes are listed on the rekordbox release notes page.

SMART CUE continues AlphaTheta’s push to make cue-point management less manual, especially for DJs who prepare large libraries across laptop, mobile, cloud, and booth hardware. Spotify playlist editing is also notable because streaming integrations are moving beyond “search and load” into actual preparation workflows.

What is new and fixed?

  • Added the SMART CUE function.
  • Added the ability to edit Spotify playlists.
  • Improved the duplicate-file workflow by showing the Status column on the Select Representative File screen.
  • Fixed cases where some data was not analyzed during Track Analysis.
  • Fixed SoundCloud audio cutouts.
  • Fixed incorrect grid display for some TIDAL tracks.

The update is really about trust

For working DJs, the fixes may be more important than the new features. SoundCloud playback dropouts, TIDAL grid display issues, and incomplete analysis all touch parts of the workflow that DJs rely on when preparing sets quickly. If rekordbox is becoming a hub for local files, streaming, cloud libraries, and device export, then small data-integrity fixes are not small at all.

Before updating your main gig machine, back up your rekordbox database, export a test USB, and load a few streaming tracks from each service you actually use. SMART CUE is useful, but stable grids, reliable analysis, and predictable playback remain the real headline.
